Sometimes a sense of place permeates one’s soul, becoming a part of one’s identity, travelling with us through life as temporal as those who remember it.
This series of constructed images was composed using a variety of media and techniques including hand-built miniatures, painting, assemblage, montage, marbling and photographic collage etc. with each material and process contributing to the meaning of a remembered childhood place. These artworks reference notions of place, memory, identity and transition while seeking to celebrate the joy and sadness of the disappearing mid-twentieth century Australian beach shack, otherwise known fondly as the place by the sea.
